Commitment to Sustainability

Going Green with Our Wet Blue

At National Beef®, we source our hides from a select group of Midwest ranchers– most within a 300-mile radius of our plants– to reduce the amount of stress on the animal and natural resources used to move them. Effective rancher alliances strengthen not just the quality of our products, but provide a common commitment to good stewardship of the land, the cattle, and to our shared environmental responsibility. And our advanced tanning process allows us to monitor the amount of water leaving our facility and energy we use. At National Beef, we’re focused on sustainability and doing the right thing for our planet.

National Beef is dedicated to growing our business responsibly. Learn more about our “Best Today, Better Tomorrow” sustainability platform.

Leather is the Essence of Recycling

Leather is the essence of recycling. We optimize the value of the whole animal. We are proud to take a beef by-product and recycle it into something functional and beautiful. Leather is part of our American roots, born out of necessity and refined into an environmentally responsible product that helps improve the life and well being of the entire planet.

Proud to be Silver-Rated

National Beef is Silver-Rated 92.47% by the Leather Working Group (LWG), which allows us to work with customers who want to purchase from a certified tannery.

As customers continue to demand more traceability, we are leading the charge. All of our hides are traceable back to our two state-of-the-art beef processing plants in Dodge City and Liberal, Kansas.

Committed to Protecting Water Resources

The city of St. Joseph and MWEA have recognized National Beef Leathers for significant improvements in our wastewater treatment processes and ongoing compliance with local regulations.
